This shoot was extra special. Someone had purchased a family shoot from me in the form of a gift certificate to give Ben and Dami.
Ben and Dami, I loved being able to spend this time with you and capture some special moments between you two and your boys.
Family Session: Leanne & Her Girls
You know that perfect temperature that hits right as Summer ends and Autumn is making its way through, that’s how I would describe the afternoon I spent with Leanne and her daughters.
Leanne had invited me out to take photos on a trail that runs next to her family home. Not only was it a beautiful backdrop for Fall photos but it brought back a lot of memories for Leanne too — it’s the same set of trails she had wandered on as a child. How wonderful is it to now have her little girls share in the same experience.
Family Session: Dobson Family
I’ve never seen a family as tight as this unit. I don’t think calling them the 3 Musketeers would even do them justice. It’s people like the Dobson family that remind me why I do this and remind me how much I adore community, tribes and collectives. There’s Shaun, who’s the youngest and Paris who’s a teen but they both care for each other like crazy. Then mum, Erica… she’s love personified. All three of them together show me what it’s like to love unconditionally. Thank you guys for inviting me into your lives.
Family Session: The Okai Family
You would never know it by looking at these photos but this was smack-dab in the middle of an east coast Winter. I spent some time in Virginia Beach, Virginia for Christmas and fortunately for me, the weather was perfect for the majority of my stay. Aside from a few rain storms, it felt more like we were in the midst of a crisp Fall season. I wasn’t the only one who loved it, the boys did too because it meant they could go play in the park after this shoot!
Family Session: The Monterde Family
I love in-home family sessions. It’s like a hug for your heart because each time I enter in a new home, it’s as though I’m receiving a special invitation into that family too. I get to see the intimate details of who they are, how they interact and I get to see how much they love. Being in the home of the Monterdes was no different.
